A Placido Domingo made friends mourn and feel the artists who gathered Wednesday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to pay tribute as the Person of the Year 2010 awarded by the Latin Academy of Music under the 11a. Annual Latin GRAMMY.

Ricky Martin presented the award to the Spanish tenor who recorded his first album in 1968 and that were not enough words to thank all those present for having chosen for this recognition. "It's a so beautiful, so divine that we are privileged because we can communicate with everyone. We are 450 million Spanish speakers worldwide and it shows the importance of our culture," said an excited Placido Domingo.

Gabriel Abaroa, president of the Latin Recording Academy (LARAS for its acronym in English), spoke impeccable career of the singer, who has made more than 180 different interpretations and who in Vienna in 1991, established a record in the Guinness book for 80 minutes when the audience applauded continuously and had to leave the stage to greet his fans 107 times.
